Donagh, our founder, grew up in Australia. We were chatting about traditions, and he told us all about this little fellow – the Easter Bilby. Thing is, in Australia bunnies- Easter or otherwise- aren’t terribly welcome. Not since 24 rabbits set free in the 1850s managed to – well flourish and flourish – in to a population of 10 billion by the 1920s, wreaking serious bunny havoc on ecology and native species such as the bilby.
Nowadays attempts are being made to save this tiny Australian marsupial. You can even buy chocolate bilby’s with some of the proceeds being donated to the conservation campaign.
So in celebration of alternative mascots everywhere – here’s to Bilbo, the adorable Easter Bilby.
