April Watch List

It's the season of April showers, but let's look forward to some bright sunshine ahead. Lately I've been taking advantage of drier days to get out in nature, foraging for flora and fauna to make up some new creations for the season ahead.

On more drizzly days, however, I like to embrace the spirit of calm and cosiness by lighting a candle, reading a book, or putting on one of my favourite shows. Below is a curated list of some of the things that have brought me joy lately, and I'm hopeful they will have the same effect on vou.

The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker - I discovered this book on a whim and found it utterly transformative. A non-fiction book that examines communities, togetherness, and how we can come together for the better. Brilliant, thought-provoking, and great if you attend a lot of meetings like me.

Tennis Lessons by Susannah Dickey - A painfully real and charming novel about growing up in Northern Ireland. A coming-of-age story that's brutally honest and darkly witty. A must-read that skilfully juggles heavy, complex topics with the confusing experience of growing up.

Coda - The Oscar-winning touching tale following Ruby, the only hearing person in her deaf family. The film depicts her relationship with her parents and her struggle as she's torn between her job in their family business and following her dreams of pursuing music. One of the best films I've seen in years - bring tissues.

The Worst Person in The World - The film everyone is talking about, and for good reason. Julie is nearly thirty and facing a reckoning in her life, embarking on a mission to figure out her place in the world. Beautiful, poignant, unpredictable and real.

I Would Not Live Always - A hauntingly beautiful album by the stunningly talented Irish musician. This is pure bliss in an album that makes me utterly proud to be Irish. The perfect soundtrack to spring days.

Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You by Big Thief - An album that's just as quirky, transcendent and magical as its name. Big Thief's new release is as comforting as a warm cup of tea, and it's been playing non-stop in our studio since we discovered it.
